BOTTOM-LINE DECISION ON A PORTABLE PLANT
Dave Wase, waste manager at Ramble Tippers, a portable producer in Ireland, had been looking for a solution to the sticking problems that the company was experiencing
with its tracked finger screens. He came across the McCloskey 407 Trommel and McCloskey Kompaq machines and was impressed with their high quality and design. But, he was looking for a
machine that would handle larger applications. A discussion ensued between Wase and Noel McCloskey.
"During our initial discussions, I assured Dave that all McCloskey machines feature the same high quality and design, including
the R155, our newest heavy duty screener. As a matter of fact, I told him that this machine had been designed and built with
a heavy application like his in mind," said McCloskey. "I told him that the R155 would be the answer to his problems."
Wase was impressed. "I had seen a lot of screening machines, but I never thought any company made such a high-quality screener
that could actually handle this material and generate the volume required," he said.According to Seamus Doyle, McCloskey's senior engineer in Northern Ireland, "The McCloskey R155 can do it all – heavy quarrying,
site reclamation, construction and demolition waste and heavy rock. Its 10.5-cu.-yd. heavy duty screener ensures that loading
options are dictated by the operation and not the limits of the screen."
And for sticky and messy applications like those needed by Ramble Tippers, the feeder unit can be equipped with a low-maintenance
heavy-duty four-ply belt. For other applications, including heavy rock, rebar and sharp metal, it can be fitted with a hardox
plate feeder.
The following week, Noel McCloskey demonstrated an R155 for the company. Working at 70 percent of its capacity, the R155 was
able to keep up the pace, producing clean material off the conveyor belts.
"The McCloskey R155 Recycling Plant has been very effective handling the large amounts of material at the landfill while continuing
to generate top quality, clean soil products. This is going right to the bottom line," said company co-owner Kevin Hoare.

A COMPACT MOBILE-SCREENING SOLUTION
Bigger is not always better. For a screening plant, mobility is the crucial element. REMU has taken this quality carefully into consideration when engineering its Combi Screening Plant. On the job site, the tracked
Combi can be moved around easily, using its remote-control system.
The REMU Combi Screening Plant is a new kind of unit for screening topsoil, clay, compost and other materials. Performance
of the Combi comes from its rotating blades, and the station is equipped with electronic watchdog to prevent clogging. In
spite of its small size (it weighs only 10 tons), it can still reach a capacity of 400 yd. per hour. Combi can be supplied
on a track undercarriage, on a roll-back truck platform or on wheels.
For Mikko Kylmälahti, an excavating company in Finland, measurement, size and mobility of a screen are vitally important.
The company said that the remote-control system on the Combi is very convenient for moving the plant from wheel loader to
excavator while working. Another plus is the ease of transporting it from one job site to another. The company mixes topsoil,
sand and silt with the Combi. The result is that they produce high-quality soil mix that they sell to golf courses, landscapers,
nurseries and homeowners.
